KARACHI, Feb 18: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief, Altaf Hussain, has urged Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Arbab Rahim and provincial ministers to visit each and every nook and corner of the province for removing difficulties being faced by public and maintaining sectarian harmony.

He made this request while talking on telephone from London during their visit to Nine Zero. Governor Ishratul Ibad informed Mr Hussain that he along with the chief minister and some provincial ministers visited various Imambargahs to look at the measures taken for ensuring religious and sectarian harmony.

The chief minister assured Mr Hussain that his government was making efforts to control price hike and other related problems. Provincial minister Nadir Akmal Leghari, Adil Siddiqui, Rauf Siddiqui and advisers Sallahuddin Haider and Mumtaz Hameed were accompanying the governor and the chief minister during their visit.

They met MQM coordination committee's deputy convenor Dr Farooq Sattar; coordination in charge Anwar Alam and joint in charge Abdul Haseeb. Ismail Qureshi, Kunwar Naveed, Nasreen Jaleel and Mumtaz Anwar were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Ishratul Ibad and Arbab Ghulam Rahim visited various Imambargahs for more than three hours and met the organizers of main mourning procession near Empress Market on Friday. During their visit to Imambargahs, they talked to mourners and had an appraisal about the arrangements for Majalis and procession in Muharram.

Provincial Ministers Rauf Siddiqi, Nadir Akmal Leghari, and Adil Siddiqi, Information Adviser Salahuddin Hyder, Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani, DG Rangers Maj-Gen Javed Zia, acting IGP Asad Jehangir, DCO Fazlur Rehman, CCPO and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The governor appreciated religious scholars, organizers and people for their cooperation in maintaining better arrangements and peaceful environment. He said that the provincial government, city administration and agencies responsible for law and order, were working in a coordinated manner.

Dr Ibad inquired from people about arrangements for water and power supply, cleanliness and traffic. The organizers of Majalis and management bodies of Imambargahs appreciated the police and administration's cooperation and said that arrangements were in place with coordination at every level.

They thanked the governor for his visit to Ancholi Imambargah for the third consecutive year and for reviewing the arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram and said that it was for the first time that the governor and chief minister had come together alongwith ministers and senior officials.

At Imambargah Ali Raza, the governor inquired about the work for restoration of the building which was badly affected by in a blast last year. He directed the chief secretary to deliver a cheque of one million rupees to the management of Imambargah by Wednesday so that restoration work could start immediately. -APP
