KARACHI, Feb. 18: A teenager was killed by unknown persons, and his trussed up body was recovered from a drain in Surjani on Friday.

Police said that the body of Mohammad Noman, 16, was recovered from a storm-water drain located between sectors 4-B and 4-D.

SHO Surjani Nadir Khan told Dawn that the victim was strangulated and was tied up with a telephone wire, he added. The boy was killed somewhere else, but his body was dumped in the storm water drain, stuffed in a gunny bag. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Hospital for post-mortem examination.

The boy used to work with his father Mohammad Usman in Liaquatabad. He said that Noman had been missing for the last four to five days. He was last called out of his Liaquatabad house by two young men. Since then he had been missing. SHO Nadir Khan said that one of the suspects had been arrested from Liaquatabad while the police are looking for his other accomplices.

SUICIDE: A young woman committed suicide in her home in Korangi on Friday. Police said Sumaira Shafeeq, 21, hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her house in Korangi 3-1/2. Her body was found in her room on Friday morning. Police quoting family sources said that the victim had been suffering from some mental illness. Police shifted the body to the JPMC for legal formalities.

ACCIDENT: A woman died in a road accident near Tower on Friday. Police said that Zareen, 30, was crossing a main road near KPT building when a speeding vehicle knocked her down. She was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead.
