KARACHI: City govt's control room

KARACHI, Feb 16: The city government, following the directives of the city nazim, Niamatullah Khan, has set up a control room at Numaish Chowrangi to provide people with relief in case of any emergency.

The control room is part of efforts being taken by the city government to ensure peace during Muharram. It is directly supervised by the District Officer (DO) Civil Defence, Masood Alam.

A medical team, equipped with first aid facilities, is present there, which will provide first aid and other medical treatments to the Azadaran and participants of Muharram processions.

MONITORING CELL: The Sindh Information Department has set up a monitoring cell to feed the media with latest information on peace and tranquillity during Muharram. The cell, set up with the help of the director general, Sindh Rangers, will work round the clock.

LEAVES CANCELLED: To ensure implementation on special traffic plan, devised to maintain regular flow of traffic during Muharram, DIG Traffic Muhammad Yamin Khan cancelled leaves of all traffic police personnel.

He was addressing a meeting held to review the special traffic plan, which was attended by SSPs of Traffic Zones, DSPs Traffic and all section officers. The DIG directed the traffic police officers to perform their duties with responsibility so that no one could face any traffic problem while attending Majalis and procession of Ashura. -PPI
