TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 16: The Tehsil Municipal Administration sanitation staff and water supply tubewell operators observed strike on Wednesday to protest the arrest of a Bhaghat water supply scheme tubewell operator.

The protesters remained present on the TMA premises but they did not perform their duties. A staff spokesman demanded immediate release of operator Iftikhar Ahmad. When contacted, a police official claimed that various proclaimed offenders were using the residence of the arrested operator for hiding. He said the police were interrogating him to know about the POs.

RAZED: The Revenue department staff on Wednesday razed dozens of illegally built houses in Plot "C" locality of Pirmahal. Although women and children offered resistance, the revenue staff continued demolition operation with help of police and got vacated all state land from the unlawful occupants.

KISSAN MOOT: On the request of District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq, organizers of International Kissan Conference have agreed to change the conference venue from Teku Park to Iqbal Nagar Park on Jhang Road.

PKC central president Chaudhry Fateh Muhammad and National Workers Party district president Rana Azam Khan told reporters that the district government had granted permission for the holding of this historical conference on March 23.
