KARACHI, Feb 14: Two persons, including a housewife, were killed in two separate incidents in different parts of the city on Monday. According to police, a housewife was stabbed to death by her former husband in Landhi on Monday.

Police said that Rafiq attacked his ex-wife Sajjada Bibi and her mother Irshad Bibi with knife in their house, located in Mansehra Colony. Both women were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where Sajjada Bibi was pronounced dead while her mother was provided treatment.

Rafiq had divorced his wife nearly a month back, police added. In Jamshed Quarters, a shopkeeper was shot dead on Monday. Police said that Tahir Iqbal, 35, was at his shop located at Jamshed Road No-3 when unknown persons on a motorcycle opened fire at him and fled.

He was rushed to the Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The victim was a resident of Korangi. Police suspected some personal rivalry as a possible motive behind the killing.

CLASH: Two student groups clashed with each other at S.M. Arts College leaving several students injured on Monday. SHO Preedy police station told Dawn that the clash occurred between the members of All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization and Islami Jamiat-i-Talba over tearing off some posters in the college premises. However, the police intervened and controlled the situation. The SHO said a compromise was reached between the two groups. Subsequently, he added, no arrests made by the police.
