KARACHI, Feb 13: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Raheem on Sunday said that the issue of allotting plot to the US consulate general nearby Clifton Grammar School will be resolved agreeably and alternate arrangements will be considered in light of reservations of the area residents.
He gave this assurance at a meeting with 16-member delegation of Citizens Committee, comprised of residents of the vicinity adjacent to Clifton Grammar School and parents of schoolchildren here at Chief Minster's House.
The delegation acquainted the chief minister about citizens concerns and said that several schools were situated in surroundings of the plot proposed for consulate building.
They expressed their apprehension that due to increased security for the consulate the movement of local residents as well as parents of the schoolchildren would be restricted.
Besides, they pointed out that the proposed land is an amenity plot for park which could not be apportioned for any other purpose. The chief minister assured the delegation that the issue would soon be resolved agreeably.
Later, Arbab Raheem along with the delegation visited disputed Boating Basin's locality, including the Clifton Grammar School, park and other sites. The chief minister and the delegation were accompanied by Sindh Irrigation Minister Nadir Akmal Leghari, Chief Secretary Aslam Sanjrani, Acting IGP Asad Jehangir.
DONATION: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Sunday announced donation of Rs50 million each for "Flood Fund" established for the rain affected people of Balochistan, the NWFP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
He also expressed grief and sorrow over the losses of property and lives in these areas and condoled with the bereaved families. -PPI/APP
