KARACHI: Water level goes up at Hub

KARACHI, Feb 11: Water level in the Hub Dam went up by 1.5 feet after rains in its catchment area on Friday. According to sources, water level in the dam on Friday increased to 315.10 RL (Reservoir Level) from Thursday's 313.04 RL.

Level in dam which supplies water to sprawling townships of Orangi, Baldia, North Karachi, Shershah, Surjani and SITE, Surjani (both residential and industrial areas) and Lasbella, is expected to increase further as the Met office has forecast more rains.

The dam's dead storage level is 278 RL while it starts overflowing at 340 RL. The KWSB is, at present, getting between 80 and 90 mgd from the Hub source for supplying to the localities hooked to the dam.

The dam's catchment area is spread over an area of 3,410 square miles up to Kirthar Range while its lake's area is spread over an area of 38 square miles.
