Kashmir Solidarity Day today

ISLAMABAD, Feb 4: The Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed all over the country and in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday to express support for the people of occupied Kashmir in their struggle for their legitimate rights.

Programmes chalked out for the day by various organizations include rallies and processions in support of the Kashmir cause. Seminars and meetings will be held in towns and cities to pay tribute to the valiant struggle of the people of Kashmir. All government and semi-government organisations will remain closed on Saturday.

President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in their messages for the day have assured the people of Kashmir that they had the moral, diplomatic and political support of the government and people of Pakistan in their struggle for right of self-determination promised to them in the UN Security Council Resolutions.

President Musharraf, expressed, on behalf of the nation, unflinching support for the struggle of the Kashmiris for their legitimate right of freedom. The president reiterated that a just and lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute could only come through a process of dialogue and engagement.

He said that the Kashmiris should be associated with the composite dialogue process. Prime Minister Aziz in his message paid tributes to the sacrifices rendered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, living under the shadow of the gun and fighting for their freedom.
