LAHORE, Feb 4: Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi inaugurated on Friday the PML membership campaign in the province by filling in the form of the party at the Muslim League House.

He said on the occasion the party office-bearers and workers organizing and reactivating it would be given importance in the government and politics. He asked the party leaders to accelerate the membership campaign and make mass contact more effective.

He said the campaign had been launched all over the province while PML President Chaudhry Shujaat Husain and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz had inaugurated it at the central level in Islamabad on Thursday.

He said the PML women, youth, minority, lawyers and other wings were playing a pivotal role in the organization of the party. The government, he said, had set up a separate ministry to safeguard the rights of the minorities for the first time in the provincial history.

The chief minister urged the PML office-bearers and workers to jointly organize the party for an overwhelming success in the forthcoming local elections. It had been made compulsory for all the provincial ministers to ensure their presence in district offices of the party to resolve grievances of the people.

He said the present government was taking comprehensive measures to strengthen the agricultural, industrial, educational and other sectors of development.
