Expo 2005 positive image builder

KARACHI, Feb 4: Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan said on Friday that Expo Pakistan 2005 was a positive image builder for all foreign visitors including buyers.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Expo Centre, he said that Pakistan has received a tremendous response from all over the world. He noted that 1152 foreign buyers and visitors from 77 countries attended the mega event which showcased quality "made in Pakistan" products.

Commerce minister pointed out that ten memorandum of understanding (MoUs) were signed by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) with the visiting chambers of commerce of different countries at Expo 2005 and more will be signed soon.

He was of the opinion that this exhibition has provided a chance for a greater interaction between the local industry and foreign buyers. This will eventually helps in improving Pakistan's image in the comity of nations, he observed.

Humayun said that Expo Pakistan would be an annual event and EPB would set up a separate section to look after this event and its related matters. He pointed out that foreign delegations have shown interest for investing in Pakistan in various potential sectors under joint ventures. He said that the government would facilitate every investor and provide better infrastructure facilities. -APP
