MIRPURKHAS, Feb 2: Office-bearers of different NGOs and trade associations have expressed concern over the increase in the price of petrol. They said this would also lead to a rise in prices of other commodities and transport fares.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Mirpurkhas Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Abdul Khaliq Khan demanded that the government should withdraw the decision. Electronic Association president Abdul Majeed Shaikh also criticized the government.

He said people were already facing increases in prices of essential items. In their separate statements, Mirpurkhas Shehri Ittehad president Qayoom Shahid and Sindh Agriculture Growers Development Association president Raees Ahmad Khan said this would be an additional burden on people already facing hardships.

RAIDS: District judicial magistrate Noshad Mughal on Tuesday raided different petrol pumps in the city and imposed fine for selling less quantity of fuel. He imposed a fine of Rs1,000 each on the Abdul Ghaffar Qureshi petrol pump, owned by an influential man, Shell petrol pump and the Shaikh petrol pump for supplying less fuel by tampering with machines.

Meanwhile, traffic sergeant, imposed fine on the drivers of several vehicles for not having driving licence and voilating traffic rules.
