KARACHI, Feb 1: The city government has announced local holiday for Tuesday (Feb 2) in connection with the Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi.

Accordingly, all offices of the city government, including Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Karachi Building Control Authority, town municipal administrations and union councils, will remain closed on Tuesday.

However, all the sanitary staff of town municipal administrations, who have been assigned special duties in connection with Expo-2005, will remain on duty on Tuesday despite the holiday declared by the CDGK.

Meanwhile, the educational institutions falling within the limits of the city government will also remain closed. A spokesman for the CDGK said that the holiday has been declared in the light of a resolution of the City Council (No 594) of Jan 27.

City Nazim's coordinator on educational affairs said that the decision would also be applicable to private schools and colleges up to degree level.
