Wagon-coach collision claims 26 lives

JACOBABAD, Jan 30: Twenty-six people, including four women and two children, died when a wagon collided head-on with a coach near the Begari Canal, the Abad area, here on Sunday.

Twenty-one of the victims were identified as Santosh Kumar, Mansab Ali Khoso, Nazir Shams, Dodo, son of Mubarak, Ghulam Nabi, son of Rajab, Aruna Bai, Chettumal, Juma Khan, Hafiz Mir Hassan Mirani, Ghulam Sarwar, Attur Ali Shah, Deen Mohammad Channa, Bhisham, Jalal Ahmad, Hamid Ali Buriro, Ismail, Rameshlal, Ethomal, Shabbir Ahmad Ansari, Jabal Khan, Ramesh, son of Mohan Lal, and Bali, mother of Mohan Lal.

The Jacobabad-bound wagon was coming from Sukkur when it collided with the coach. The bodies were taken to the Jacobabad Civil Hospital where the medical superintendent declared an emergency. The coach driver fled after the accident.
