KARACHI, Jan 30: It is likely that thousands of students of Class I to III would be exempted from annual examination and other tests from this year.
A senior educational official said that Sindh Education Minister Dr Hamida Khuhru had asked the education department to take measures to exempt the students of class I to III from examinations for the purpose of their promotion to next classes.
In the light of minister's directives, the officials concerned started working for preparation of a report justifying grounds for implementation of the latest directives from the minister, which would be placed before the Sindh government.
The official said that class teachers and school heads could be tasked to decide about the promotion of students on the basis of their attendance and class-participation.
An official handout hinting on the relaxation did not mention that the decision, if implemented, would be effective in case of private schools or not. However, the senior official expressed the view that the exemption would be meant for the private and government school students equally.
