Govt pay body proposals by mid-April

ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: The Pay and Pension Committee on Tuesday announced that it would submit its recommendations to the government by mid-April. The committee made the announcement after its meeting held on Monday and Tuesday.

The participants were apprised of the history of pay scales and allowances of government employees of the country through a detailed presentation. The presentation was made by the Senior Joint Secretary of (Regulations), Finance Division.

The committee was also informed of the macro economic scenario of the country, based on recent economic indicators. The details of the scenario were given by Economic Adviser, Finance Division.

The World Bank team also made a presentation on civil service reforms in the country with some broad recommendations about the critical areas that need to be looked at.

The next meeting of the committee will be held in Islamabad on Feb 18-19, 2005. Mr Muneer Afzal, Chairman Pay and Pension Committee, presided over the meeting.
