HARIPUR: Two houses looted in Haripur

HARIPUR, Jan 25: Robbers struck twice in Khalabat Township on Monday night and decamped with cash and valuables.

Humayun Khan, a resident of Sector-IV, Khalabat Township, told the police that his family was not home when some robbers broke into his house and took away Rs200,000 in cash.

In another robbery in the same locality, bandits entered the house of one Habibur Rehman by scaling the boundary wall and looted gold ornaments, Rs1,300 in cash and other valuables. The police registered the cases and investigation was under way.

MAN KILLED: A man was killed when his car crashed against a roadside tree near Kotnajibullah here on Tuesday. Police said that Mohammad Sabir Ali of village Kotnajibullah was travelling from Wah Cantt to his hometown in a car when it skidded off the road and hit a roadside tree.

He was seriously injured. The injured man was taken to Kotnajibullah hospital but he succumbed to his injuries, the police said.

GAMBLERS HELD: The city police claimed to have arrested 10 gamblers and seized the stake money in village Monan here on Tuesday. The police said, a raiding party on a tip off was sent to the cattle pen of one Sadiq, alias Kala and arrested 10 alleged gamblers and recovered Rs30,000 and other gambling articles.
