LAHORE: Bail rejection notice served

LAHORE, Jan 25: Justice Khwaja Mohammad Sharif of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday served notice for cancellation of the bail on a person from Daska who is facing charges of raping his teenaged daughter.

His daughter Asifa Bibi moved a writ petition seeking the cancellation of the bail of her father Mohammad Ilyas, granted to him by an additional sessions judge. The young petitioner submitted that her father used to rape her after her mother left the home following a family dispute. She requested that the bail of Ilyas should be cancelled.

CONTEMPT: Justice Tanvir Bashir Ansari issued contempt notices to Kasur Tehsil Nazim Malik Abdur Rashid and town municipal officer Zahid Naseer Butt in a petition which accused them of ignoring high court orders in the award of a contract.

Petitioner Talib Husain was awarded a contract of collecting fee on immovable property which was cancelled by the Nazim and the TMO. The LHC had later set aside their order and restored the contract to the petitioner. But the town council failed to abide by the high court orders and also invited fresh bids for the contract on Jan 25. The Nazim and the TMO have been directed to appear in person on Jan 31 to explain their conduct.
