LAHORE, Jan 23: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said here on Sunday that the economic policies were aimed at encouragement of foreign investors and their full protection.

He was talking to a delegation of Germany-based investors which called on him here. The delegation was led by Metro Group chairman Dr Hanz-Joschin Korber. Mr Elahi said government departments in the province had been reorganized to make them helpful for the development of private sector.

The process of computerization had also been accelerated to improve their working and administrative ability. He said the process of infrastructure development had been accelerated in the province so as to enhance the speed of industrialization and foreign investment.

The chief minister said the government had promoted technical and professional training at all level and taken several steps to protect domestic and foreign investment.

He said the industrial policy of the province had increased local and foreign investment. The government nevertheless wanted more foreign investment to improve the living standard of people.

Dr Korber said his company was interested in opening world standard departmental stores in Lahore and other cities in the province. Punjab Investment Minister Ajmal Cheema briefed the delegation on the facilities being created for foreign investors in the province. Punjab chief secretary Kamran Rasool, P&D chairman Salman Ghani, finance secretary Salman Siddique and others were present during the meeting.
