LAHORE, May 28: Police baton-charged and arrested 15 workers of the PML(N) when they attempted to take out a rally near Lahore railway station on Tuesday.

The party has decided to celebrate Yaum-i-Takbir and take out a rally near the station.

Police claimed they warned the organizers of the action if they tried to hold a rally. Despite the warnings the workers tried to change the event into a political activity, they added.

The workers pelted stones at policemen when they asked them to disperse, they said.

In return, the police resorted to baton-charge and took some 15 of the workers into custody. Some of the workers sustained minor injuries. They were detained at the Naulakha police lock-up and a case was registered against them.
