ISLAMABAD, May 28: Fahd Husain, a journalist, has become the first Pakistani to graduate top of the class from the Columbia University’s School of Journalism which is widely regarded as the world’s best.

Mr Husain has been awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Travelling Fellowship as the top academic performer of the year in the New York school. Joseph Pulitzer introduced the fellowship (as well as the Pulitzer prizes) in his will to enable the outstanding students to travel and study abroad.

Mr Husain has majored in Broadcast Journalism.

He secured the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Jack Howard Scholarship to study at the prestigious school.

Before going to the US, Mr Husain worked as an associate editor at the Gulf News in Dubai. Prior to that, he was the resident editor of The Nation in Islamabad.
