KARACHI: Two die in accidents

KARACHI, Jan 18: Two persons died and five others injured in two road accidents in different parts of the city on Tuesday.

Police said that a rashly-driver passenger coach overturned at the Lilly Bridge in the morning, resulting in the death of a young passenger and injuries to fours others.

Police said that Rambo Coach (PE-6740) was coming down from the bridge when it overturned while negotiating a sharp turn. Twenty-two-year old Sunil, who got seriously injured, was rushed to the JPMC, where he died during treatment, while four other passengers, Shaukat, 22, Riasat, 30, Yaqoob and Usman were admitted for treatment.

Sunil was a policeman belonging to the Sindh Reserve Police, the police added. The driver escaped from the spot leaving the vehicle behind, which was impounded by Frere police.

In another incident, a 50-year-old man died in a hit-and-run accident at Numaish traffic section. Police said that the victim, who could not be identified immediately, died on the spot. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital for legal formalities by the police.
