Published January 18, 2005

KARACHI, Jan 17: In order to ease pressure of the vehicular traffic passing through the Saddar area, it has been decided to re-route the public transport entering into the area via Sharea Faisal and Rafique Shaheed Road.

The Secretary Regional District Transport Authority on Monday announced the realignment of routes in this regard. According to the plan, all the public transport coming from Jinnah Hospital/Sharea Faisal (FTC side), presently terminating at Mansfield Street, Shahrah-i-Iraq, Saddar Dawakhana and surrounding streets, would now be take a turned from the Fleet Club point and follow the route as under:

(a) From Jinnah Hospital (Rafique Shaheed Road): The public transport vehicles coming from JPMC will go straight to Rafique Shaheed Road up to the Fleet Club, turn right on Iqbal Shaheed Road up to Jet Lane round about towards Mubarak Shaheed Road and return to Iqbal Shaheed Road to reach Fleet Club, and return by taking left turn on Rafique Shaheed road to Jinnah Hospital and complete the remaining journey.

(b) From Sharea Faisal (Nursery/FTC): The route coming from FTC to Fleet Club will follow Mubarak Shaheed Road and return by taking left turn from Fleet Club towards Rafique Shaheed Road, take left turn on Sharea Faisal/FTC and complete their onward journey.

According to the official, the arrangement has come into effect immediately and will be initially implemented on a trial basis. -APP
