KARACHI, Jan 17: Managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board Brig Iftekhar Hyder on Monday directed the board officials and contractors to expedite work on the ongoing K-III 100-mgd bulk water supply scheme.

He issued the directive during a visit to the site of the project. The MD said that all technical expertise be utilized in the implementation of the project, during which the highest level of quality should be maintained. He said completion of the project would greatly help overcome the city's water problem.

ENCROACHMENTS: On the directive of the KWSB managing director, the engineers and security staff of the board thwarted an attempt by land mafia to put up encroachments on the KWSB's North East Karachi Filter Plant's reserve land. According to the KWSB, the land mafia had started constructing hutments on the reserve land. -APP
