LAHORE, Jan 17: A firing victim died and a police official sustained wounds in an encounter in two separate incidents in the city on Monday.

Nazir Ahmad and his son Maqsood, 18, had sustained injuries when they resisted a robbery attempt in their house in Shahdara on Sunday.

Nazir died on way to hospital while his son was critical. He too succumbed to his injuries. His body was sent to the mortuary for autopsy. A police sub-inspector, Adil Khichi, suffered injuries in an encounter in Halloki village in Kot Lakhpat police limits.

The official raided a house to arrest PO, Arshad, alias Raju, who opened fire on the SI and the raiding party. The PO had also shot at and wounded two policemen in Green Town when they intercepted him and tried to arrest him. The injured SI was admitted to hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.
