QUETTA, Jan 15: The president of the National Party, Dr. Abdul Hayee Baloch has expressed deep concern over the situation in Balochistan and urged upon all political parties, nationalist forces, lawyers, and labour and human rights organizations to play an effective role against the anti-people policies of the rulers.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that the prevailing situation in Balochistan was a result of the long dictatorship in the country and ignoring its people for the last 57 years.

He said that despite being an important unit of the federation Balochistan was not given its due rights and ignored in all fields as a result of which the people of the province felt deprived. He said that President Musharraf himself accepted this fact.

Dr Hayee Baloch said that Islamabad never consulted the other provinces as far as policy making, financial and other important issues were concerned as a result of which anti-Islamabad sentiments developed among the people.

He said the government had constituted a parliamentary committee regarding the problems of Balochistan, but the body had yet to finalize its recommendations.
