KARACHI, May 28: Work on modernization of “17” inquiry is progressing along with training of the staff concerned.

This was stated by the director general of PTCL, South, Irfan Ali Khan, while speaking at a ceremony held at the PTCL headquarters here to present commendation certificates and cash awards to “17” staff showing outstanding performance.

It may be mentioned here that PTCL had started the existing “17” inquiry system in 1992 when there were 2500000 telephone connections in the city. However, with growing number of telephone connections, the system had almost become unserviceable and non-accessible to subscribers which was affecting the Company’s credibility.

In order to redress the grievances of subscribers, PTCL is now setting up “17” inquiry separately for each exchange and for the time being it has started functioning in Clifton, Defence, Misri Shah, PECHS, New Karachi and Azizabad Exchanges, Irfan Ali Khan said.

He disclosed that “17” inquiry would be operational in all the zones of Karachi by June 30.

The DG PTC South said that the company is keen to provide best possible service to its subscribers and a testimony to it is the new services which are provided off and on.

On the occasion DG Operation directed the staff to maintain better relationship with the customers and ensure that their complaints are redressed forthwith.—APP
