Arrangements for mega expo finalized

KARACHI, Jan 14: The 5th meeting of Steering Committee on Friday finalized arrangements for first mega exhibition of Pakistani products Expo Pakistan 2005, to be held here on February 5, 2005.

Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan chaired the meeting at Karachi Expo Centre which was also attended by State Minister for Commerce Hamid Yar Hiraj and Commerce Secretary Tasneem Noorani and members of steering committee and president KCCI.

Various committees including entertainment committee, conference committee, finance committee, foreign mission liaison committee, hospitality committee presented the update on the arrangements of mega exhibition.

The meeting was apprised that after confirmation from foreign guests for attending the show, the management of Expo 2005 would seek booking of additional rooms in five-star hotels to accommodate the visiting dignitaries.

Replying to the need for additional budget for the show, the commerce minister said he has already contacted some of the leading companies in Pakistan for sponsorships.

He said the event should be of world class with all the facilities and entertainments for the visiting top bosses, opinion leaders and dignitaries. He said all the entertainment events should portray Pakistani culture. He underlined the need for publicity of the event on a large-scale in and outside Pakistan. -APP
