LAHORE, Jan 12: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal President and Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmed has said that Islamic movements and workers will defeat the US capitalism like the Russian socialism.

This he said while speaking at a meeting of the National Labour Federation central executive committee held at Mansoora here on Wednesday. Mr Qazi said the US felt threatened by the Islamic movements instead of China or India because only these had the capacity to counter the American agenda of domination the world over.

He regretted that rulers in Islamic countries were not resisting the US attempts to enforce its agenda on their countries and were trying to implement it instead.

The poor, he said, were suffering on account of military rule in Pakistan and only the generals were prospering. The poor were getting poorer and the rich more richer due to unrealistic economic policies of the government.

The JI amir asked the rulers to explain as to how they expected a poor Pakistani to meet the basic needs of his family in Rs3,000 a month when they continued multiplying the pay and allowances of parliamentarians.

To a question, Mr Qazi said that compelling General Pervez Musharraf to stop wearing the uniform was not a problem. Convincing the armed forces to attend to their prime duty of the country defence was the real problem.

He said the return of the armed forces to barracks would not only strengthen the country and the democracy but also enable them to discharge their responsibilities of national defence in an amicable manner.

He said that only strong political institutions could create a strong and stable political systems and not individuals. No country in the world had prospered under the military rule till date. Pakistan, too, could progress only under an Islamic democratic system, he added.
