TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 10: Scores of citizens on Monday took out a protest procession over the rising sale of prize bond chits in the town. The procession started from Talab Bazaar and after marching on various roads ended at Sadar Bazaar Chowk.
Local traders Rana Saeed Khan, Haji Dilshad, Chaudhry Tariq, Ishaq Dogar and councillor Tauqeer Bhatti led the procession. Addressing the participants, the speakers alleged that various money changers were doing the illegal business of selling prize bond chits. As a result, scores of people had lost their business.
TAKEN AWAY: Dacoits took away a car and cash from a cigarette company manager on Sunday night near Chak 254 GB on the Samundri-Rajana Road. Ghulam Mustafa was on his way to Chichawatni from Faisalabad when dacoits intercepted him and made off with Rs80,000 and his vehicle.
PROTEST: The District Bar Association members observed protest on Monday over the uniform issue. The lawyers were wearing black armbands while a black flag was also hoisted on the rooftop of the bar room.
JUI-F: Hafiz Abdul Rehman alias Manha, a religious activist released after three month detention from jail, has said that he is not an activist of banned Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan. In a press statement issued on Monday, he said he was a worker of JUI-F.
