PESHAWAR, Jan 10: A proclaimed offender and his two friends were killed by some people in the Nasirbagh area, while three others were killed over family disputes in separate incidents here on Monday.

Safiullah, who was wanted by police in two cases, was killed along with his two friends at an abandoned place near a flour mill in the Nasirbagh area, police officials said.

His friends were identified as Saadat and Zafar. The three were coming from the Khyber Agency when some unidentified gunmen ambushed them in the Nasirbagh area. SSP (operations) Abid Ali told Dawn that Safiullah had disputes with many people and one of his rivals might have killed him and his two friends.

Safiullah was the nephew of Sanaullah, who is a ringleader of a kidnappers group in the Regi area. He claimed that Safiullah was also a member of the Sanaullah group, which was involved in the kidnapping of Abdul Hameed, a city jeweller, about two months ago. "Investigations are going on and killers will be apprehended soon," he added.

Meanwhile, a man killed his wife and nephew over a family dispute in Panaam Bheri village of Mathra locality on Sunday night. Hazrat Sher told police that his brother Siraj alias Toray came to home quite late on Sunday night and when his wife Naureen asked him about the reason for being late he started beating her.

Hazrat Sher claimed that his son Bacha Khan tried to intervene and save Naureen. But Siraj pulled out a pistol and killed both of them on the spot and escaped. Police have launched a search for the accused.

In a separate incident, a man was killed allegedly by the brother of his first wife on Chargano Kalay Road on the outskirts of the city on Monday, police said. Rehman Shah told Daudzai police that he was coming along with his brother Mohammad Shah from Chargano Kalay when two men, Tariq Shah and Karamat Shah, allegedly opened fire on his brother.

Mohammad Shah received multiple bullet injuries and died on the spot. Rehman Shah told police that attackers were brothers of Mohammad Shah's first wife, who had died some time ago. Mohammad Shah later contracted second marriage which infuriated the family of his first wife which shot him dead.
