KARACHI, Jan 10: Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) in collaboration with Pakistan Customs on Monday organized a seminar to brief the business community regarding automated customs clearance system set to be functional on March 23 this year under Customs Administrative Reforms (CARE) programme, an initiative of Central Board of Revenue.

The first session of the seminar was chaired by Member (Customs) CBR Mohammad Ramzan, while CBR Chairman Abdullah Yousaf presided over the second session.

The automated system of workings designed to replace current manual and personalized system is set to bring lot of improvement in cargo clearance process and thus greatly benefit all industry players.

The procedure will not only bring speed and transparency but also be geared up to meet current and future challenges facing Pakistan's trade. The CBR chairman appreciated the efforts of CARE project team, its vision and working relationship with KICT towards achieving this dynamic goal.

"KICT is proud to have been selected as pilot-project site for implementation and thus have privilege of playing key role in shift from present regime of 100 per cent inspection to modern risk management system," said KICT Chief Executive Officer Khurram S Abbas and added that CARE was designed to provide maximum facilitation to trade and transform logistic supply chain into efficient system. -PPI
