KARACHI: Eight vehicles hijacked

KARACHI, Oct 28: Eight vehicles — five cars and three motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, the police said.

Three cars were hijacked in Defence (two) and Ferozabad. Two others were stolen in Defence and Aziz Bhatti.

The motorcycles were stolen in Shah Faisal Colony, North Nazimabad, and Preedy.

The police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered five vehicles in the city.

ELECTROCUTED: A labourer died of electrocution and his associate suffered serious electric shock in Orangi Town on Sunday.

The police said that Khadim Husain, aged 50, and Tayyab Husain, aged 40, suffered severe electric shock while working at an under-construction site in Banaras Town in Sector No 9 of Orangi Town. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors declared Khadim Husain dead on arrival. Tayyab Husain was admitted to the hospital.

WOUNDED: Bandits shot and wounded a man in North Karachi on Sunday. The police said that three armed men barged into a house in Sector 5-A1 where an elderly woman was alone at the time.

The bandits snatched gold bangles from the woman. As they were coming out of the house, Farhat, aged 35, coming towards his house, saw the three bandits and challenged them. The bandits became jittery and opened fire on him and escaped.

Farhat has been admitted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
