LAHORE, Jan 9: Gas supply to the Punjab and the NWFP remained normal on Sunday as a tense stand-off in the Sui area failed to affect the SNGPL lines.

According to SNGPL officials, the reported blast hit only a gas well-connecting line which was quickly repaired by the staff of the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) -- the company owning the Sui gas fields.

These pipelines, known as gas gathering lines, usually do not hit supplies because they are used only to connect gas well with each other and create a supply momentum.

The SNGPL distribution system supplied around 1,750 million cubic feet (MCF) to the Punjab and the NWFP on Sunday. Its supply hit a figure of 1,800mcf during the last week as cold wave continued gripping both the provinces. However, the supply pressure relaxed following fluctuations in weather.
