Published January 7, 2005

QUETTA, Jan 6: Hundreds of newspaper workers and members of various labour and trade organizations took out a procession here on Thursday in support of demands of newspaper employees.

They carried banners and placards with slogans demanding implementation of the Seventh Wage Board award. Later, they held a meeting at the Press Club. Speaking on the occasion, union leaders criticized the federal government for not solving the problems of the labour and newspapers employees.

They criticized the IRO 2002 and described it as a black law aimed at depriving workers of their fundamental rights. They demanded its immediate repeal. The union leaders also opposed the privatization policy of the government and demanded that the plan to privatize Wapda and other government institutions be scrapped.
