KARACHI: Kidnapping for ransom case

KARACHI, Jan 4: An Anti-Terrorism Court, headed by Judge Arshad Noor Khan, on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a trial against seven accused after deposition of two magistrates in a kidnapping for ransom case.

Abdul Kaleem, Arshad Parvez, Mohammad Siddiq, Fateh Mohammad, Syed Bilal, Mohammad Hasan and Ali Ahmed are facing charges of kidnapping Karman for ransom from Shah Faisal Colony in May last.

They made the victim hostage for 17 days who later released him after getting a ransom Rs0.5 million. Judicial Magistrates Mushtary Khanum and Sohail Akhtar Mangi, who conducted identification parade of the accused, recording their statements said three eyewitnesses identified the accused.

The court, after statements of magistrates, fixed the matter for Wednesday for the next hearing. Special Public Prosecutor Naimat Ali Randhawa is representing the state.

ADJOURNED: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of a trial against Dr Akmal Waheed and his brother Dr Arshad Waheed till Jan 5 for want of time.

Dr Akmal Waheed, a cardiac specialist of the NICVD and Dr Arshad Waheed, a kidney physician of the JMPC are facing charges for sheltering Al Qaeda and Jundullah activists, providing them funds and medical treatment. -PPI
