LAHORE, Dec 31: Punjab Quran Board chairman Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jallundhri has announced that the Holy Quran and primers would be printed on a minimum 55 gram light green and salmon coloured paper from Jan 1 onwards.

Presiding over a meeting of the board here on Friday, he said that the paper mills should ensure production of the paper in the prescribed colours using 15 per cent woodpulp for use for the Holy Quran publication immediately.

He said the government was committed to ensure the publication of the error-free Holy Quran under the 1973 Act and would not spare anyone found violating its provisions.

He said the publication of the Holy Quran should be undertaken as a religious obligation. Punjab Auqaf secretary Muhammad Javed Iqbal Awan said the Quran Board had been constituted to ensure the publication of the error-free Holy Quran.

He said that Quran 'Mahals' had already been established at the divisional level for ensuring preservation of the worn out pages and copies of the Holy Quran. Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had now ordered establishment of Quran 'Mahals' at the tehsil level.

Three committees headed by Special Branch DIG Abid Saeed, Director Finance (Auqaf) Junaid Ahmed Khan and Auqaf Department Religious Affairs Director Dr Qamar Muhammad Ali were constituted for ensuring the production of the paper prescribed for the publication of the Holy Quran.
