PESHAWAR, Dec 30: The PML-N on Thursday ruled out any deal with the government and pledged that the party would continue its struggle for the restoration of the 1973 Constitution and revival of real democracy.

Speaking at a function here, PML-M chairman Raja Zafarul Haq said that the party would not accept President Gen Pervez Musharraf as constitutional president of the country even if he (Gen Musharraf) shed his uniform.

The function was organized to celebrate the 98th founding day of the party and was attended by Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Saranjam Khan, Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Siddiqul Farooq and Pir Sabir Shah.

Raja Zafar reiterated that the PML-N would not compromise on constitutional issues and revival of real democracy and would continue its opposition to the government.

"PML-N believes in democratic values and there will be no deal with the government," he said. The PNL-N chief maintained that it would be a political blunder if any party entered into a deal with the government.

He said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal had committed a political suicide by supporting the 17th amendment, adding that other political parties should learn a lesson from the religious parties' alliance.

Raja Zafar said that general elections would be held next year and Nawaz Sharif would be the next prime minister. He said that democracy would be restored when Nawaz Sharif returned to the country.
