KHAIRPUR, Dec 30: The general secretary of the Awami Tehrik, Dada Qadir Ranto, has said that the government is bent upon building the Kalabagh dam which will wreak havoc on Sindh's agricultural-based economy.

He was speaking at a meeting of the district body in Thari Mirwah town on Wednesday night. Mr Ranto said Sindh was passing through a very critical period as it was facing water shortage, lawlessness and unemployment.

He criticized Senators, MPAs and MNAs from Sindh, alleging they were only interested in getting personal benefits and least bothered about rights of Sindh.

He said it was very necessary to unite Sindhi people on one platform because rulers and elected representative had become helpless and could not get rights of Sindh. On this occasion, Lutifullah Phulpoto was elected district president of the Awami Tehrik and Najam Jogi secretary.
