KARACHI, Dec 23: Gulberg Town has redeveloped as many as 24 parks during the last three years at a cost of Rs35 million. Stating this at a briefing , Town Nazim Farooq Niamatullah Khan said that these parks, situated in different union councils of the town, had earlier remained unattended.

Now these had been redeveloped after undertaking fresh tree plantation, setting up swings and constructing concrete pathways, etc, he added. Besides, the town had also installed floodlights in 22 playgrounds, built rockeries at various roundabouts, planted trees at various islands, and covered almost all the storm-water drains passing through the town, he added.

Referring to the menace of encroachment, he said that the town had been undertaking anti-encroachment drives in the past, but the same reappeared after sometime.
