SIALKOT, Dec 23: Additional District & Sessions Judge Shahid Rafiq Shaikh on Thursday ordered the Uggoki police to register a case against its SHO and three constables for trying to rape a woman in the police station.

Resident of Shatabgarah-Uggoki, 'G' in her writ petition stated that she was on her way home along with her cousin 'A' in a car when the vehicle overturned and they received injuries.

Meanwhile, SHO sub-inspector Aziz Cheema and three constables Asif, Zameer Shah and Saleemullah reached there and took them to the Muradpur police station on suspicion of illicit relations.

She told the court that the police locked her in a separate room where the accused officials tried to rape her at gunpoint. The woman said she saved herself by raising an alarm and later the police released them after getting Rs10,000.

Meanwhile, Additional District & Sessions Judge Nasir Ahmad Awan has ordered the Sialkot DPO to register a case against Tanda (Gujrat) SI Yousaf Tarar and six constables Nawaz, Dilshad, Mukhtar, Nawazish, Ashraf and Altaf for illegally raiding the house of citizen Inayatullah Chishti in Chakralla-Head Marala. The victim told the court that the police humiliated the women and illegally detained him at Tanda police station.

BRIDGES: The Nazim said the district government has planned to convert two bridges over the seasonal Aik Nullah into a dual carriage through the Citizens Community Boards (CCBs) at a cost of Rs17.5 million.

He said the work on the project would begin in January. Mr Javaid said the district government has released Rs302 million for the early construction of Sialkot-Kingra Road which would link 60 border villages with the city. He said a district government complex having seating capacity of 400 and a modern civic centre would be built here at a cost of Rs60 million.
