LANDI KOTAL, Dec 23: Four vehicles were destroyed and nearly a dozen roadside cabins gutted on Wednesday night when an oil tanker exploded after catching fire at the Takhta Beg checkpoint in Jamrud tehsil here.

Sources in Jamrud tehsil office said that oil was leaking from the tanker destined for Afghanistan. It caught fire when cleaner of the vehicle set some rubbish things on fire nearby to warm himself from the severe cold at night.

The leaking oil from the oil tanker soon caught fire and the fire immediately engulfed the whole tanker. Moments later, the tanker exploded with a big bang, setting fire to three other vehicles parked near the oil tanker.

The fire also engulfed about one dozen roadside cabins and reduced theese to ashes. The three other vehicles included a huge lorry which was taking food items for coalition forces in Afghanistan, a truck loaded with ghee and another truck loaded with animal fodder. However, no one was injured as a result of the fire.
