KARACHI, Dec 17: Karachi Whites off-spinner Tahir Khan grabbed five wickets to bowl out Multan for 266 in their first innings on the third day of their Quaid-i-Azam Trophy match at UBL Sports Complex ground on Friday.

Tahir captured five wickets which cost him 98 in a marathon 43.5 overs spell as Multan needing 269 runs were bowled out for 266, failing to avoid the follow-on by three runs.

However, KW skipper Moin Khan did not enforce the follow-on and hosts made 83 without loss in the second innings. Khurram Mansoor hit seven boundaries in his unbeaten 54 off 45 balls and Muhammad Farrukh was 26 not out that included three hits to the ropes.

KW are now enjoying an overall lead of 235 runs and all their second innings wickets intact. Multan resuming at their overnight score of 100 for one frustrated the KW bowling in the first session. Usman Tariq and night watchman Abdul Rauf added 77 runs for the second wicket.

Usman hit six fours and a six in his 70 before being caught behind off Tahir. Rauf was run out for 54 and his knock was studded with five boundaries and a six. Multan lost last six batsmen for 73 runs with Tahir and pacer Rajesh Ramesh sharing the wickets.
