SWABI, Dec 16: The Khudahkhel jirga and the Totali union council nazim have demanded immediate arrest of the killer of a farmer.

The demand was made at a press conference held by Karim Babak, the head of the jirga and a former provincial minister, Totali union council nazim Raj Wali and a brother of the deceased.

Mr Babak alleged that the farmer, Abdul Rauf, was working in his field with his son, Hafiz Sher Khan, on Oct 23 when a retired brigadier went there and shot him dead over a trivial matter.

Other Jirga members said that police had shown no interest in the case. They said if the accused was not arrested within a week they would stage a protest demonstration and block the Swabi-Buner Road. They urged the governor, chief minister and inspector general of police to expedite the arrest of the killer.
