KARACHI, Dec 16: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has urged the people associated with housing industry to launch low-cost housing schemes so as to provide residential facilities to masses.

Talking to delegation of Association of Builders and Developers in a review meeting on Thursday, he said that foreign investors were ready to invest in this sector. The meeting decided to waive condition of NoC from the concerned utility agencies for housing projects.

The meeting decided that the Karachi Building Control Authority, after approving the plan of housing project, would provide information about it to the utility agencies, so that they could plan for provision of water, electricity, etc.

The builders were assured that the government would take a decision on their demand of lowering the security deposit from current two per cent to one per cent. He asked the delegation to point out builders who were deceiving public. He noted that setting up of a system to curb this practice is a must.

Later, the delegation thanked the governor for his keen interest in resolving the problems of housing industry. Senior minister Sardar Ahmed, Provincial Advisor Waseem Akhtar, Sindh Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government, Secretary of Finance, Secretary of Law, EDO building control, EDO water and sewerage, Managing Director of KESC and representative of the cantonment board also attended the meeting. -PPI
