KABUL, Dec 15: Seven suspected Taliban fighters died in a battle with US-led forces, officials said Wednesday, while a bomb wounded three Afghan soldiers the day after the security chief of the ousted regime's leader was captured.

The seven were killed in a clash with Afghan forces in south eastern Khost province, who then requested support from US-led coalition soldiers late Monday, Major Mark McCann told reporters.

No coalition or Afghan forces were injured, McCann said. On Tuesday two senior Taliban commanders were caught by Afghan forces in the southern city of Kandahar, the Taliban government's former stronghold and spiritual home. -AFP
