ISLAMABAD, Dec 14: The Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Region has called for completion of the Afghan refugees repatriation from NWFP and Tribal Areas by 2006 and sought the assistance of international community, particularly the UN, in this regard.

The committee made these recommendations at a briefing session on the working and performance of the Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and its attached departments in the Parliament House here Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by Chairman of the Standing Committee Senator Ayaz Khan Mandokhail. Safron Secretary Sajid Hussain Chattha briefed the committee about the vision of the ministry, socio-economic uplift of the Tribal Areas through accelerated development.
