LANDI KOTAL, Dec 13: Political authorities in Bara, with the help of a local peace committee, recovered on Monday a medical technician who had been kidnapped in August.
Kamaluddin was abducted from Abdullah Jan Kaley in Bara by armed men belonging to the Shalobar and Zakhakhel tribes, who kept him at a secret place in Arhanga village of Tirah valley.
The authorities sent a number of jirgas to secure the release of Kamaluddin whose captors were demanding Rs600,000 ransom. The administration also rounded up around 67 tribesmen belonging to the Shalobar and Zakhakhel tribes under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulations besides impounding 15 vehicles owned by the two tribes.
The Bara peace committee after holding talks with three alleged abductors, Sakhi Zakhakhel, Minnat Zakhakhel and Hashmat Shalobari, secured the release of the medical technician on Sunday evening and brought him to Bara tehsil office on Monday morning. Kamaluddin was later handed over to his relatives after being in illegal captivity for nearly four months.
