HYDERABAD, Dec 9: Pakistan People's Party leader Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Bhitshah on his way to Karachi on Thursday afternoon to pay homage to Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

He offered fateha and laid floral wreaths on shrines of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and Shah Habib. He also offered fateha at the grave of poet Shaikh Ayaz.

News of his arrival in Bhit Shah attracted hundreds of people who converged at the Mazar to greet him. In a short speech, the former senator said that without the wisdom of Shah Latif and other great poets, the country would be derailed from its original mission.

He said while in jail the poetry of Bhittai and other Sufi poets was a source of inspiration for him. Later, he left for Karachi by road. Agha Siraj Durrani, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio and others accompanied him.
