PESHAWAR, Dec 2: Director of Schools and Literacy Fazle Manan said that the Middle Standard Examination System which was abolished some time ago would be restored.

He was delivering a lecture on 'Planning and Management in Education' at the main Library Hall of the Peshawar Public School & College here on Wednesday.

The director of schools and literacy said that a comprehensive plan for improving primary education had been prepared. He said the government was evolving a policy to monitor the performance of schools.

Another plan had been prepared to link promotion of teachers with performance and academic record, Mr Manan said. He said that the government was giving top priority to improving the standard of primary education.

The director of schools and literacy regretted that a large number of government schools were not showing good results at the matric level. Most of the senior officials in the education department preferred to send their children to schools in the private sector, Mr Manan said.

It was a proof of their lack of confidence and trust in the education system in the public sector, he observed. Improving the standard of education was the responsibility of everyone, he said. The lecture was followed by a question and answer session.
