ISLAMABAD Nov 28: All is set for the General Assembly of Asian Parliamentarians Association to start its fifth meeting in the federal capital from Monday.

The organization is likely to discuss and take forward the idea of setting up an Asian Parliament on the pattern of the European Parliament, officials said.

A consensus resolution is being prepared which will be moved and adopted by the conference seeking the establishment of Asian Parliament for which 40 Asian countries had reportedly agreed so far.

The executive council of the GAAPA will meet on Monday to finalize the agenda for working session of the conference before being formally inaugurated on Tuesday.

The agenda for the conference is likely to revolve around discussing steps for maintenance of peace for security in the largest continent of the world, enhancement of women empowerment, youth affairs as well as settlement of state to state political issues.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz will formally open the moot on Tuesday when Pakistan will take over the chairmanship of the GAAPA for next yearly term from Philippine the present chairman.

Chairman of the GAAPA and speaker of the Philippines parliament will crown the incoming chairman of the Association and speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain with an award at a ceremony on Monday.

He will also speak to journalists on the occasion. The present chairman of GAAPA and speaker of the Philippines parliament on Sunday had a meeting with the National Assembly speaker.
